LifeScience Logistics Operations Facility

ABI is proud to share the completion of the LifeScience Logistics Operations Facility, a 425,000-square-foot emergency response and logistics hub in Lakeland, Florida, built to support the mission of the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

Designed to strengthen the State of Florida’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities, the facility brings critical logistics, storage, communications, and emergency operations together in one highly specialized environment.

Built for Emergency Response

Among the facility’s key features is a helipad engineered to accommodate a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, providing additional capabilities for transporting personnel, equipment, and supplies during emergency response operations. The building also includes a tornado-rated vault with a hardened safe zone, providing protection for personnel and essential operations during severe weather events.

Inside the facility, temperature-controlled storage environments support the secure management of critical supplies and materials. A protected drive-through distribution area allows vehicles to move through the facility while loading and unloading supplies in a controlled environment, helping support efficient deployment during emergency operations.

Infrastructure Designed to Stay Operational

The project also includes a major data center supported by uninterrupted power and full generator backup. This redundant infrastructure is designed to help ensure that essential communications, logistics, and emergency-response functions can continue even when normal utility service is disrupted.

The completed facility combines substantial scale with highly specialized infrastructure built around one central purpose: helping Florida remain prepared when emergencies occur.
